High-speed hand dryers called better hygienic option

Significant cost and environmental savings also cited


High-speed hand dryers are the most effective hand-drying method available to commercial facilities, according to an article on the FaciltyCare website.

The dryers are easy to install and maintain, provide significant cost and environmental savings, and are more hygienic than both paper towels and trough-style dryers, the article said.

Third-party studies have debunked the myth that paper towels are more hygienic than hand dryers, according to the article.

A 2000 study conducted by the Mayo Clinic evaluated the effectiveness of four different hand drying methods in removing bacteria from washed hands and concluded there are no differences.
