HLAC president answers questions on improving safety


John Scherberger, president of the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC), discussed his organization's mission to improve safety in an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

The mission of the HLAC is to inspect and accredit laundries that process healthcare textiles (HCTs) based on the highest standards for patient safety and infection prevention. 

HLAC standards are continually under review and are changed as we learn from experience, education and expertise, and incorporate new guidelines and regulations, he said.

According to Scherberger, one of the biggest challenges is the one posed by the “disposable mindset” among healthcare facility managers.
