Hospital addressing cause of Legionella death

Bath’s Royal United Hospital finds source of bacteria in water supply where victim was a patient.


Bath's Royal United Hospital in the U.K. is addressing the cause of a patient's death from Legionella, according to an article on the Bath Chronicle website.  

The source of bacteria was found to be in the water supply where the victim was a patient.

"Robust testing and monitoring processes apply across the whole of the hospital estate," according to a hospital spokesperson.

The hospital was initially cited for breaking health and safety law, having "neither suitable nor sufficient" assessment of risk of exposure to Legionella bacteria in its water system and "inadequate" Legionella control measures in the William Budd Ward and its annex.
