The Royal Hobart Hospital evacuated its emergency department due to an "unpleasant odor" caused by blocked grease trap, according to an article on the ABC website.
A "code yellow" — a disaster that requires an emergency and urgent response — was declared because the Royal Hobart was already operating at the highest stress load, officials at the Australian facility said.
Patients were moved to other areas of the hospital.
A representative from the Royal Hobart Hospital Staff Association said the level four escalation was making the code yellow difficult to deal with.
