New Orleans Times-Picayune publishes infographic on hospital linen cleaning process in wake of deadly fungal outbreak

The Times-Picayune published an infographic on hospital linen cleaning process on it's website in the wake of a deadly fungal outbreak that killed five children at Children's Hospital in New Orleans.

Details about what happened in that outbreak make clear that these textiles can be vulnerable to contamination at any number of steps in the process from laundry to hospital to patient and back, the article said.

Associated Hospital Services and East Jefferson General Hospital invited The Times-Picayune to look at how they process their linens. AHS is one of only three healthcare laundries in the state that are accredited by the Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council.
