Health systems have announced a series of commitments to reduce carbon emissions and exert leadership to combat climate change, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

During the United Nation’s Paris Conference on Climate Change in December 2015, More than 50 major health systems came together to join the 2020 Healthcare Climate Challenge.

Led by Healthcare Without Harm, these health systems are pledging to  pursue political and economic solutions to address climate change.

As part of the challenge, Healthcare Without Harm is calling on the U.S. healthcare sector to reduce its carbon emissions by 25 percent by 2020 and 50 percent by 2025.
