Not all care can occur outside the hospital but the medical home is an environment in which patients can feel more secure

As a way to reduce the cost of care, improve outcomes, enhance the patient experience and reduce certain risks to patients, the medical home care model makes a lot of sense, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

New technology and the ability to work off-site will contribute toward this model’s success. Not all care can occur outside the hospital but the medical home is an environment in which patients can feel more secure.

This trend could lead to the repurposing of the traditional hospital.

To repurpose could mean rethinking traditional investment strategies. Hospitals of the future could feature more mixed-use buildings.

"In the future, the hospital may become an adventure full of retail, amenities and experiences that leaves one breathless and, of course, feeling better," the article said.
