Impact of 'active listening' on design discussed

Architects recognized for helping create a comfortable patient experience and an optimized work environment for staff


Surveys and active listening helped The Francis Cauffman team design  an environment that was a hybrid of social and private infusion spaces for the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper University, according to an article on the FaciltyCare website.

The project received the User-centered Award, one of the 2014 Symposium Distinction Awards presented by the Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo.

The team was recognized for creating a space that offered both a comfortable patient experience and an optimized work environment for staff.

“It’s about not just listening to the patients, but listening to the people caring for them,”  said Dale Walker, director of communications for Francis Cauffman.
