The Most Wired Innovator Award honorees are using IT to improve patient care in innovative ways, according to an article on the Hospital & Health Networks website.

The Most Wired Innovator Award honors hospitals that find creative IT solutions to serve their patients, staff and communities.

St. Joseph Mercy Oakland uses a real-time locating system to track hand-hygiene compliance. New patient beds also are tied into the nurse call system. When a patient is identified as a high risk for falls, a bed exit alarm is set. 

St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital uses  mobile electrocardiograms which connect to smartphones to speed the time between a patient’s atrial fibrillation to medical intervention.
