Inspection After First Covid Case Finds Va. Hospital Staffers Failed To Clean Hands And Equipment

A state inspector cited the issues at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth during an unannounced visit this spring


An inspection found that  staff at a Virginia hospital failed to clean their hands and wipe down equipment between intensive care patient rooms, according to an article on the Virginian Pilot website.

A report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said it may be possible to get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching your face.

A state inspector cited the issues at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth during an unannounced visit this spring.

The lapses were discovered three days  health officials confirmed the first case of the coronavirus in Virginia.

The Bon Secours system was ordered to submit a plan of corrective action but did not suffer any penalties.
