Inspira Health Network breaks ground for new hospital

On Wednesday, May 24 at 1 p.m., Inspira Health Network broke ground for its new $349 million, 204 bed, 467,000-square-foot hospital in Mullica Hill.

During the event, Inspira leadership highlighted how the new facility was designed to support patient safety, clinical excellence and an outstanding patient experience.

"The opportunity to build a new hospital will allow us raise the bar for patient safety, clinical quality and the patient experience,” explained John DiAngelo, president and CEO of Inspira Health Network. "The final design, which was shaped by input from more than 200 employees and physicians, combined with the latest in medical and communications technology will allow us to provide quality care that is more efficient and patient-focused."

Enhancements include all private rooms, designed with family caregivers in mind; user-friendly layout for outpatients and inpatients; plenty of natural light in patient rooms and common areas; wayfinding technology for patients and visitors, rapid access to a single, up-to-date electronic health record for each patient, and SmartRoom technology that will provide patients and caregivers with real-time information and easy access to educational materials and entertainment.

“The complexity and scope of this project requires an experienced partner to serve as an on-site representative throughout the construction process,” DiAngelo. “The CBRE team has demonstrated a strong commitment to serve on our behalf, while interacting in a professional manner with the other companies involved in this project.”

The new facility received approval from the New Jersey Department of Health in March. Its design includes two five-floor patient wings, with space available for a third to be added should need arise. A medical office building, walking track and healing garden are also planned.

CBRE Healthcare is providing Owner’s Representative services for the new medical facility, including preconstruction, on-site project management, master budget and schedule development, project delivery team selection assistance, contract negotiation, project cost and schedule management, and project delivery team coordination.
