J+J Flooring Group releases counterbalance second collection of Kinetex Textile composite flooring

DALTON, Ga. – J+J Flooring Group is launching the Counterbalance Collection, its second offering of award-winning Kinetex textile composite flooring.

Kinetex textile composite flooring, introduced last year, is an effective and efficient alternative to hard surface flooring.  Constructed of knitted polyester fabric and cushioned polyester felt backing, it provides the durability of hard surface flooring, the comfort and warmth of soft surface flooring and better acoustics and safety than either. The workhorse flooring is virtually unaffected by common stains and resists crushing, withstanding more than 5 million foot traffics.  Named one of Environmental Building News’ Top 10 Green Building Products of 2014, Kinetex has 50 percent lower environmental impact than traditional hard or soft surface flooring.

The Counterbalance Collection includes three 24” x 24” modules with patterns, colors and accents that work collaboratively to define and separate spaces and create wayfinding.  Propel offers a simple, sophisticated tweed-like visual achieved with Moresque colored yarns. Pop addresses the need for delineating open spaces and designing borders and accents with a range of heathered solids running from deep, saturated hues to vibrant flashes of color.  Flash offers a third coordinate with a tweed background and pinstripe accent. Each can be used as building blocks to craft flooring installations ranging from subdued backdrops to splashes of color to vivid layouts.

The Counterbalance Collection correlates with Kinetex’s In Motion Collection and brings the line to six products. Kinetex creates a soft textile look in interiors requiring the durability of hard surface flooring. Appropriate for high traffic areas, it has a Texture Appearance Retention Rating (TARR) of 4.5. It offers minimal resistance to rolling traffic and resists stains including blood, urine, betadine, hand sanitizers, oily foods, condiments, paint, red wine and copier toners. Kinetex also provides better acoustics, comfort, cleanliness and slip-and-fall resistance than traditional hard surface flooring.  Its high moisture transmission allows installation on slabs with RH up to 95.

The flooring system has significant cost and sustainability advantages.  Kinetex’s lifecycle cost of ownership (flooring materials, installation and maintenance over 7-10 years) is approximately 30 percent less than rubber flooring, 35 percent less than LVT flooring and almost 50 percent less than VCT flooring.  It is made with more than 50 percent post-consumer content and is the only flooring that can be recycled back into itself much like an aluminum can.  Kinetex is certified to NSF 140 Platinum and meets the Carpet & Rug Institute’s Green Label Plus for low indoor air emissions.  A third party Environmental Product Declaration is available.
