LEED credentialing can benefit facility career

Eighty-seven percent of building industry professionals say that earning a LEED credential improved their credibility, while 93 percent say it indicates a greater level of commitment to green building

Becoming an expert in green building can put a facility professional in a solid position to help create and maintain sustainable spaces, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

Eighty-seven percent of building industry professionals say that earning a LEED credential improved their credibility, while 93 percent say it indicates a greater level of commitment to green building.

There are two types of LEED credentials, the article said. The LEED Accredited Professional (AP) with Specialty credential indicates in-depth knowledge of one of five LEED rating systems: building design and construction, interior design and construction, homes, operations and maintenance and neighborhood development.

Professionals may hold more than one LEED AP with Specialty. The more general LEED Green Associate credential indicates foundational knowledge that is at the core of becoming a green building expert.
