While a recent lock down incident at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital turned out to be a false alarm, it sparked a review of security procedures, according to an article on the KPLC TV website.
However, the procedures already in place helped keep those in the hospital safe during the incident, according to an official at the Lake Charles facility.
“Anytime something like this happens, whether it’s a false alarm or a mistaken identity — and we believe that’s going to be the case in this scenario, it gives us a chance to unfold our response teams to communicate with other police agencies that are also responding,” said Chief Deputy Mark Kraus.
During the lockdown, sparked by a call about a suspicious person, some patients and staff were evacuated while others sheltered in place until they were given the all clear.
