MELVILLE, N.Y. - Leviton is responding to the growing demand by health care facility managers, engineers, architects and builders for education and awareness related to NFPA(R) 99: Health Care Facilities Code ("Code") with a series of seminars designed to provide them with knowledge and solutions to help facilitate Code compliance.
The National Fire Protection Association(R) (NFPA(R)) 99 establishes criteria to minimize the hazards related to patient, staff and visitor risk in health care facilities. As health care facility managers look to bring their facilities up to Code, Leviton's interactive seminars will help explain the nuances of the Code and identify available solutions to reduce risks. Presented by certified instructors through the NFPA(R), the seminars will cover electrical systems and equipment, features of fire protection, risk assessment and process of Code development and enactment.
"In speaking with our health care customers, we understood their need for a strategic partner and resource that could provide the necessary level of education related to NFPA(R) 99 concerning electrical safety for patients, staff and visitors," said Mike Mattei, Vice-President and General Manager, Leviton Commercial & Industrial. "Leviton takes great pride in serving as the go-to resource for all of our partners looking to better understand the Code changes that impact their specific line of business."
Tapping into the company's century of experience, Leviton develops state-of-the-art hospital grade wiring devices, high speed data connections and energy-saving lighting controls that contribute to a safer, more efficient health care environment while improving energy conservation. When the country's premier health care facilities look to improve safety and efficiency - from operating rooms and nurse stations to kitchens and parking lots - they turn to Leviton as the brand standard. With a suite of products, including hospital grade GFCI receptacles that protect from electrocution in wet or damp areas, surge protective devices to protect sensitive electronic and emergency equipment and leading-edge copper and fiber connectivity for the instantaneous and reliable transfer of critical data across networks, Leviton has the capabilities to meet any hospital challenge.
"At Leviton, our dedication to providing the resources and products necessary to meet Code requirements is a testament to our deep-rooted commitment to offer the most comprehensive range of solutions for today's buildings," added Mattei.
Leviton, along with the NFPA(R), will host the free seminars across the United States throughout 2014. Attendees will earn continuing education units (CEU) for the full-day course and be provided with a copy of the NFPA(R) 99 Code book.
