Lighting choices can improve patient experience and bottom line

LED lighting offers controllability and energy efficiency

As the healthcare industry evolves, improving patient satisfaction and controlling costs is essential. LED lighting offers healthcare facilities a number of advantages over other lighting options in addressing both issues, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

Controllability and a higher color-rendering index (CRI) allow for an enhanced overall patient experience. Also, energy efficiency and long lifetimes can help the day-to-day facility budget and recent developments in technology have reduced upfront costs.

With healthcare organizations focusing on renovation rather than new construction, energy efficient LED lighting upgrades are becoming more common. In addition, manufacturers can boost the efficiency of LED lighting with lighting controls.

The Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic recently installed more than 1,000 LED architectural troffers. The installation is expected to decrease lighting energy usage by 54 percent, the article said.
