NEW YORK—Mobile phone technology, the Internet, simple sensor technology and advances in biotech have coalesced to create a new industry: digital health. It’s revolutionizing the way healthcare providers deliver patient care, patients access healthcare services, and how consumers can manage their own health and wellness.
To find out which core technologies will address the challenges facing New York (and other major cities) and speculate what the future of digital health will look like, Living in Digital Times has produced the Digital Health Summit at CE Week New York. This one-day conference will also explore the booming markets of next generation medical, wellness and fitness devices, remote monitoring, mHealth apps and products, and cloud-based medical services. Digital Health Summit will take place on June 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City.
“It’s exciting to think about where the digital health industry is today and all the ways the technologies of tomorrow will help improve our lives,” said Jill Gilbert, producer of the Digital Health Summit.
The summit kicks off with opening remarks from Kyle Kimball, executive director of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), followed by a keynote panel “Digital Health Takes on New York” moderated by Eric Taub, writer, The New York Times, and panelists Cynthia Compton-Conley, PHD, director, Hearing Wellness, Etymotic, Martha L. Wofford, head of CarePass, Aetna’s CarePass, and Samir Damani, CEO & founder, MD Revolutions. Mayor Bloomberg has been beating the drum of improving the health and wellness of all New Yorkers, and this panel discussion will address how digital health is coming to the rescue.
Additional hot-button discussions on the agenda include:
“Incubating the Next Great Idea”: An inside look at how accelerators and incubators are nurturing innovative companies and how big tech companies are acting like startups by incubating their own cutting-edge digital health companies from within.
“Five Technologies We’re Betting Your Health On”: From 24/7 virtual doctors to genome sequencing and everything in between.
“Sports and Fitness Invades Digital Health”: Hear from a leading innovator and technology company on how they deliver biometric, performance and communication data to consumers hands-free, direct-to-eye in a completely new and meaningful way.
“Sensors Uncensored”: Constant tracking and monitoring through interconnected devices opens up unlimited possibilities for disease management and prevention leading up to new and remarkable business opportunities.
“Pharma’s Role in the Digital Age”: From doctor’s visits, drugstore prescriptions, and the drugs themselves, new innovations are empowering patients.
