London hospital steps up infection control after rise in C-diff cases

There have been 22 cases of C-diff recorded at the Whittington Hospital - more than double its threshold


Whittington Hospital in the Ilslington District of London has stepped up its infection control efforts after a rise in C-diff cases, according to an article on the Islington Gazzette website. There have been 22 cases of C-diff recorded — more than double its threshold of 10.

A review of infection control is now underway which will look at antibiotic prescribing, isolation and cleanliness. According to the latest reports, three cases of the superbug were reported in March. One case was reported in February and three in January, taking the full year’s total to 22.
