Healthcare facilities need to know that equipment will work properly, even during natural disasters so they need uninterrupted power, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

The California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development passed the Hospital Seismic Safety Act to create environments that can withstand seismic activity. The standards have a number of regulations that must be followed in order to evaluate a building's earthquake performance.

Because of this, some manufacturers and vendors have chosen building products and materials to undergo OSHPD Special Seismic Certification Preapproval (OSP).
