Massachusetts considers new assisted living protections

Assisted living facilities would be prohibited from accepting residents so frail they need months of skilled nursing care

The regulations also propose expanded training for workers and require detailed emergency evacuation plans, including enough equipment and medicine for extreme weather events.

The updated rules mandate education in recognizing and reporting elder abuse and techniques for managing and calming aggressive behavior.
