Mayo Clinic Health System workers are using a simulation space for de-escalation training to help curb workplace violence, according to an article on the Mankato Free Press website.

More than 100 Mayo physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses and other emergency room staff participated.

Security staff regularly deal with potentially violent situations , said Erik Odegard, regional director of security for Mayo Clinic Health System. In the moment, communication between team members is as important as anything.

“This practice here helps us to communicate, to get that constructive feedback and look at things we can do differently to help improve,” he said in the article.
