Mayo's Tower Expansion Paused Indefinitely'

The proposed expansion would have included a seven-story hotel

Plans for an 11-floor addition to the Gonda Building in downtown Rochester, Minn., have been paused indefinitely, according to an article on the Med City Beat website.

The proposed expansion would have included four floors of clinical space and a seven-story hotel.

According to Mayo, the project has been halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Several other Mayo projects have also been put on the back burner.

The suspension of the expansion is the second time in two years that a development has stalled during the Destination Medical Center initiative.

The  $190 million expansion would have also added four clinical treatment floors, according to a Becker's Hospital Review article.
