Medical Director of Datta Endoscopic Back Surgery and Pain Center receives honor for fourth consecutive year

Dr. Sukdeb Datta, a distinguished pain management and minimally invasive spine care specialist, has been chosen for Super Doctors of New York, a listing of outstanding physicians from more than 40 medical specialties who have attained a high degree of peer recognition or professional achievement. This is Datta’s fourth consecutive year receiving this honor.

Dr. Datta is the founder and Medical Director of Datta Endoscopic Back Surgery and Pain Center, as well as a Professorial Lecturer at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

“Constantly evolving and intellectually advancing the field is all I want to do,” says Dr. Datta. “I am grateful to consistently be recognized for doing what I love while improving the quality of life for others.

Candidates for the honor are selected based on 10 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, which include the following: years of experience, hospital appointments, fellowships, professional activities, leadership positions, academic achievements/positions, board certifications, publications, lectures and presentations, honors and awards, and other outstanding achievement.

The Nomination process includes a survey of doctors, 10 research components, a review of their peers and finishes with only the top-scoring 5% of the doctors being nominated.

In addition to being a respected and renowned teacher and speaker, Datta has served on the Board of Directors and is the past Secretary for the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He was a member of the Pain Medicine Committee of the American Society of Anesthesiology and is actively involved in the editorial process of several journals.

He serves as a preceptor for the Clarus Laser Endoscopy procedure for laser spine surgery and is a pioneer in minimally invasive spine surgery techniques, including laser spine surgery. Datta’s propietary eDiscSculpt Technique is a revolutionary method that turns what was one a major surgical event into an outpatient procedure. Specialized instruments carefully sculpt the spinal disc without opening the back and without cutting any back muscles. Datta’s eDiscSculpt Technique also greatly reduces patient recovery time.

With his honor as one of the Super Doctors of New York, Datta’s name appeared in a distinctive free-standing pullout in select editions of the May 15, 2016 edition of The New York Times newspaper, and can be seen online at www.superdoctors.com.
