A searchable database of federal safety rule violations at about 1,000 hospitals since 2011 is now available. Released through a collaboration between the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ), the database contains information pulled from 2567s, federally authorized complaint investigations, says an article in HealthLeaders Media.
The database will be updated quarterly. Previously, information from 2567s was available only through a Freedom of Information Act filing or state public records request, says the article.
The database does not include routine inspection reports or complaint investigations at psychiatric hospitals or long-term care facilities, but these might be added in the future. The database also does not currently include the hospital's plan of correction.
AHCJ is also pursuing public disclosure of Joint Commission inspection reports, according to the article.
