N.J. Hospitals Install Temperature Screening System for COVID-19

Alerts from thermal imaging cameras can be sent instantly to medical staff or security personnel

Bayonne Medical Center, Christ Hospital in Jersey City, and Hoboken University Medical Center have installed smart thermal scanning and imaging systems for automated, accurate, mass temperature screening, according to an article on the Security Info Watch website.

The system has a detection time of less than one second and accuracy of plus/minus 0.5 degrees. Alerts from thermal imaging cameras can be sent instantly to medical staff or security personnel.

The cameras will be deployed primarily at main entrances and were able to measure the body temperature of up to six people simultaneously within the temperature detection zone from a distance of up to 20 feet.

Similar systems are being installed in many U.S. hospitals. The Hermann Hospital in Houston, as well as the San Antonio Police Department have installed a new touchless temperature detection camera system which will be able to scan 2,000 people an hour, according to a Fox San Antonio  article.
