NEMA Releases Standard that Tests Audio Quality in Emergency Call Systems

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published NEMA SB 10-2016 Audio Standard for Nurse Call Systems. This standard contains the necessary requirements and test procedures that evaluate audio quality of loud speakers and microphones for emergency call systems such as nurse control stations, patient stations, and pillow speakers.

NEMA SB 10 evaluates the audio quality of a UL-listed nurse-call system in an open-air installed system environment and is meant for use in hospitals, nursing homes, and acute care facilities.

NEMA SB 10-2016 is available in hard copy or as an electronic download for $45 on the NEMA website.
