The Langone Medical Center in New York will get $1.1 billion for Hurricane Sandy repairs, according to an article on the New York Daily News website.
The funds include $589 million for hazard mitigation work and $540 million for repair and restoration costs.
NYU Langone evacuated 300 patients during Superstorm Sandy. It was soaked with 15 million gallons of water during the storm surge.
The hospital’s center reopened in April after a major renovation and expansion.
The hospital, which sits on Manhattan’s East side near the East River, saw its backup generator wiped out by flooding. Workers had to evacuate patients by flashlight in hurricane-like conditions.
