New Pig to Showcase World’s First Adhesive-backed Mat at NFMT 2019

New Pig Corporation, the world’s leading provider of products that keep floors clean and safe, will showcase PIG Grippy® Mat, the world’s first adhesive-backed mat at the 2019 NFMT conference in Baltimore, March 26-28. Attendees are invited to come by Booth #2328 to see live demos and learn how Grippy Mat can help facilities reduce slips, trips and falls as part of a complete floor safety program.

Facilities managers know all too well that slips, trips and falls cost businesses billions of dollars in liability claims and litigation costs. What they may not know is that their old solutions are part of the problem. For years, placing yellow caution signs on wet floors, and rubber-backed, carpeted floor mats in entrances and other high-traffic areas, have been considered floor safety best practices. But more often than not, rubber-backed mats add a trip hazard to an existing slip hazard.

“When devising new products at New Pig, we always look to the customer first for inspiration.” said Dan Silver, New Pig's vice president of product development. “In the case of Grippy Mat, we started to notice that customers were actually taping our original PIG Mats to the ground because they were so absorbent and flatter than traditional rental rugs. That’s when our ah-ha moment occurred.”

Grippy Mat is specifically designed to eradicate same-level slips, trips and falls because its proprietary adhesive backing keeps it perfectly flat and in place – it never shifts, ripples or flips over like standard rubber-backed mats. Tested and certified by the National Floor Safety Institute to reduce slip and fall claims by as much as 90 percent when used as part of a floor safety program, Grippy Mat provides safe footing and eliminates slip-and-fall hazards. It sticks tight to most commercial floor surfaces but peels up easily for quick change-outs. Grippy Mat is also built to take daily abuse in high-traffic areas such as entrances, aisles and walkways and can even withstand forklift traffic.

“After launching Grippy Mat, we saw an immediate response from the facilities management community because of its ability to virtually eliminate slip and fall hazards overnight,” continued Silver. “In the past, payouts from slip and fall claims have almost always been viewed as a cost of doing business — an inevitable problem with no apparent solution. Products like Grippy Mat are proof positive that the answer to eliminating floor safety hazards exists, companies just need to make it a priority.”
