New PitbullT 2300B Screener a High-Quality, Affordable Option for Small- to Mid-Sized Contractors

Lake Erie Portable Screeners introduces a portable box screener as a smaller, economical alternative to the Pitbull™ 2300. The Pitbull 2300B has no conveyors and features a smaller frame, allowing it to boast the durability, portability and screening rate of the 2300 at almost half the cost. The new model is simpler, lighter and more compact than the larger version, yet delivers high outputs with a wide range of materials, including topsoil, mulch, gravel, stone and asphalt. The combination of low price and high performance makes the machine ideal for rental centers and small- to mid-sized contractors in industries such as landscaping, construction and excavation.

Lake Erie Portable Screeners will feature the Pitbull 2300B and 2300 March 7-11, at booth S5193, during CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 in Las Vegas.

“We want to make sure our product is attainable to everyone who could benefit from it. That’s why we created an entry-level machine for smaller contractors and rental centers,” said Stuart Foradora, Lake Erie Portable Screeners factory representative. “The 2300B has the same screening rate and durability as the 2300 but in a smaller, more economical package.”

Lake Erie Portable Screeners’ engineers greatly simplified the 2300 to create the 2300B. The most noticeable changes are the removal of the conveyors on the 2300B and the model’s more compact frame. As a result of the reduced size and weight, engineers were able to include a smaller hydraulic system and a 21.5-horsepower Honda two-cylinder air-cooled gas engine — rather than the four-cylinder diesel engine on the 2300. Despite the changes, Lake Erie Portable Screeners constructed the Pitbull 2300B to share the same features that make the Pitbull 2300 simple to use, maintain and transport. These include full hydraulic operation, tubular frame construction and a reversible shaker.

The screening plant incorporates an anti-spill loading apron that accepts as much as 3 cubic yards of material at a time, depending on the feed rate.  With its low dump height of 8 feet, 4-1/2 inches, operators do not need loading ramps; they can fill the hopper using typical construction equipment, such as skidsteers, backhoes, loaders or excavators. While the screening rate remains the same as with the larger 2300, the 2300B deposits the screened material into a large, open space below the screener rather than onto a conveyor belt. This, combined with the smaller engine and easy availability of gas, makes the machine ideal for contractors with small production requirements.

Contractors can easily tow the 7,300-pound machine with a class 3 truck, another big differentiation from the larger model, which requires a minimum class 4 truck. This makes the 2300B rental ready. It’s built with a standard pintle hook and street-legal lighting. Upon arrival, contractors use the hydraulic system to quickly and easily lower the machine to operating position. When the machine is ready to be moved, the operator can return it to towing position with the flip of a lever. The unit also features a heavy-duty, non-suspension straight axle and electric brakes.

The portable screening plant has an upper and lower screening deck. Each deck provides more than 41 square feet of screening area. Lake Erie equips each deck with two sections of screen panels. The screen deck design is a common feature in the 2300 family of screening plants, providing owners the versatility of total interchangeability of screen panels between all models. This reduces inventory investment when purchasing screen panels for existing and future owners of 2300 plants, as well as makes panel inventory more economical and better utilized for rental stores. Lake Erie offers optional finger decks for the top deck in addition to a wide range of screen opening sizes and shapes for processing many types of materials. Operators can change screens quickly and easily by loosening the tension bolts holding the panels in place. The screeners also can be equipped with optional upper and lower discharge chutes for classifying as many as three different sizes of screened materials.

Lake Erie Portable Screeners builds Pitbull 2300B frames with high-quality, structural tube steel. The tubular construction reduces noise and vibration, which also minimizes the risk of cracks and structural failures common in machines with C-channel construction. The screening plant is made entirely of heavy-duty materials, all the stress points are fully reinforced, and attachment points and stress points are 100 percent welded with high-strength steel.

For increased production rates and far fewer equipment cycles, Lake Erie Portable Screeners also offers larger dieselpropane, or electric-powered screeners. The machines include the company’s unique built-in conveyor system, featuring a 20-foot-long stacking conveyor.
