New surgical construction can attract patients and surgeons

High-tech ORs help recruit high-volume surgeons

New surgical construction and high-tech operating rooms (ORs) can help recruit high-volume surgeons and maximize patient-centered care, according to an article on the Outpatient Surgery website.

The University of Minnesota Medical School and the Fairview Health Services health system partnered to open a $165 million building that houses surgeons' offices, 10 ORs, six procedure rooms, 15 private pre-op rooms and 22 recovery spaces.

The building has the modern feel of an Apple store.

The project is part of a growing movement to build facilities that offer a one-stop shop for all the care patients need before, during and after surgery.
