New technology improves hospital emergency communication

Emergency managers have access to communication tools that make sure that the right people get the right message

Hospital emergency managers and planners are faced with safeguarding large numbers of staff, visitors and patients and must be prepared for a range of possible natural disasters and man-made emergencies.

Fortunately, new technology offers much faster, more streamlined and more flexible emergency communications, according to an article on the FacilityCare website.

Today’s emergency managers have many communication options for alerting hospital staff and visitors of an emergency within the facility.

They also can communicate with individual personnel as well as target messaging to particular areas of the hospital, including entire buildings, hospital wings or individual rooms. This capability avoids disrupting operations as well as inconveniencing or panicking people in the areas of the hospital that remain unaffected, the article said.
