Norton upgrades SafeZone intelligent door closer with selective hold open feature

Norton, an ASSA ABLOY Group brand, announced the SafeZone® Intelligent Door Closer now comes standard with a Selective Hold Open feature. SafeZone closers supplied with the Selective Hold Open reduce wear and tear on high-use openings while still providing increased doorway safety and accessibility.

Perfect for commercial and institutional environments, SafeZone’s Selective Hold Open feature maintains an open door position only when it is opened past a specific angle AND movement is detected in the doorway. If the door is not opened to the predetermined opening angle, SafeZone operates as a regular closer and simply closes the door.

“Previously an optional feature, the Selective Hold Open is now standard on SafeZone,” said Blue Houser, Norton Brand Manager. “Not only are high traffic openings across a variety of applications easier and safer to navigate, but the life of the door, hardware and frame are now also extended.”

The opening angle at which Selective Hold Open is activated can be easily set and adjusted in the field by simply turning a cam and can be set to any desired angle. SafeZone is fire code-compliant and is available with push or pull side mounting, in either left or right-handed models.

SafeZone is a multi-point, electromechanical door closer that uses an on-board motion sensor to detect motion around door openings and holds the door open to ensure safe passage.
