ONVIF speaks on cyber security, sponsors industry events

ONVIF, the leading global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced today that ONVIF Chairman Per Björkdahl will be a speaker at TEC 2016, presented by PSA Security Network, the world’s largest security cooperative. ONVIF will also be a PSA TEC 2016 sponsor and exhibitor, in addition to its sponsorship of the upcoming annual conference for the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC).

ONVIF Chairman Per Björkdahl will be speaking on “Cyber Security, IoT and the Role of Standards” as part of the conference’s cyber security track on Thursday, May 12, at 1:15 PM. To be held this May 10-12 in Westminster, Colo., at the Westin Westminster. TEC 2016 features education and certification programs, networking opportunities and exhibits. ONVIF is a bronze level sponsor of TEC 2016 and will also be an exhibitor at the event, exhibiting at booth A9 in the Westminster Ballroom.

“As the line between physical and logical security continues to fade, securing information on networked devices and systems becomes a focal point for the physical security industry at large,” said Per Björkdahl, ONVIF Steering Committee Chair. “It is important that the industry address the role standards can play in cyber security strategies, and this important relationship between cyber and physical security.”

In addition to its activities at TEC 2016, ONVIF will be a sponsor of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants’ annual conference April 17-20 in Charleston, S.C. The conference focuses on counter-terrorism, cyber-security, data retention, travel risk management and partnership opportunities with other consultants.

Founded in 2008, ONVIF now consists of nearly 500 member companies in six continents and more than 5,500 Profile conformant products. With Profile S for streaming video; Profile G for recording and storage; Profile C for physical access control and the Release Candidates Profile A, for access control configuration, and Profile Q, for improved out-of-the-box functionality, ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions ONVIF conformant products can provide.

Further information about ONVIF’s conformant products, including the vendors and the conformant models, is available on ONVIF’s website: www.onvif.org.
