One company is fixing a broken nursing home industry

Long gone are the days when residential healthcare facilities were seen as cold, sterile environments with institutional food, little contact with the outside world, limited intellectual or emotional stimulation, and a lack of social activity.. if your loved one is lucky enough to be at one of The Grand Healthcare System’s nursing and rehab facilities.

The Grand Healthcare System, with six distinctive nursing and rehabilitation facilities throughout New York State, has promised to do better for our loved ones who are elderly and/or infirmed.  They are succeeding in this mission where other healthcare facilities are failing.

The Grand is moving a long accepted standard of insufficient care forward by offering resident guests iPads with access to the Grand’s proprietary mobile app, a 24-hour hotel-inspired concierge staff, entertainment and social events, premium cable television, FaceTime & Skype, and meals that meet dietary needs and preferences prepared by top nutritionists. The Grand also offers top of the line rehabilitation equipment that prepares guests to re-enter the outside world and all of its day to day activities and errands.

U.S. News & World Report recently highlighted The Grand in their article, “Nursing Homes Are Getting Better.”

The Grand’s mobile app puts everything at the facility, literally, at guests’ fingertips by allowing them to make any number of concierge-like requests, from assistance in getting out of bed (reducing the number of potential accidental falls) to in-room dining service, replacing a light bulb, bed turn down service, transportation requests, social event organizing and much, much more.

Each Grand facility is also staffed with a hotel-like concierge representative who is trained to respond to any requests that their resident guests punch into the Grand’s mobile app. Available 24 hours a day, the Grand’s concierge is on hand to answer any questions or fulfill any guest requests and needs.

Guests at the Grand enjoy quality meals prepared by chefs who are trained to meet any and all dietary needs, without compromising taste.  Guests’ food and drink preferences are kept on file and considered each time a meal is being prepared.

To keep guests in high spirits and engaged with the community, they offer premium cable channels and highly produced social events – everything from birthday celebrations and carnivals, to classes and pizza socials.

The Grand’s rehabilitation rooms far exceed industry standards, making the most of technology and up to the minute machinery, with the use of everything from Wii, to suspension cords, to actual car models in their rehab rooms.
