Ontario healthcare facility making the hospital safer for psychiatric patients

Safe rooms will have smooth walls and heavy furniture to prevent self-harm

The new safe rooms will have smooth walls and heavy furniture to prevent self-harm.

The hospital's emergency department has been designed to provide care to patients with physical ailments, and that space can be dangerous for those who come to the hospital in a mental emergency.
