Owensboro hospital project wins engineering award

Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Ky, wins American Council of Engineering Companies 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards competition


The Owensboro Health Regional Hospital project in Owensboro, Ky, won the American Council of Engineering Companies 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards competition, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design magazine website.

Completed in June 2013, the Owensboro structural system resolved challenges involving high-seismic conditions near the New Madrid and Wabash Valley Seismic zones, poor soil conditions and curvilinear building massing, according to the article. 

The  project team used integrated project delivery to share risk between the architect, contractor and owner and realized more than $5 million in savings, which were reinvested in building, structural systems and patient amenities.
