A two-day infection control monitoring training workshop was held recently in Lahore, Pakistan, according to an article on the Express Tribune website. The workshop was organized as part of Pakistan's environment and medical waste management plan.
The government had given priority to environmental health and medical waste management and infection control was a key area in the health sector, Khawaja Salman Rafique, the advisor to the chief minister on health, said in the article.
Rafique stressed the role of health managers in the implementation of measures for infection control, and enforcement of hospital waste management rules, the article said. He called for a comprehensive action plan to improve infection control and medical waste management plan throughout the Punjab.
Twenty-three hospital waste incinerators had been installed in public hospital, according to the article.
