Palomar Health announced a new milestone in their ongoing mission of reimagining the healthcare experience. The healthcare organization is celebrating the completion and opening of their new ninth-floor buildout at Palomar Medical Center Escondido, the 740,000-square-feet medical facility and centerpiece of Palomar Health.

After a year and a half of construction, the ninth floor of Palomar Medical Center Escondido will now have an additional 24 beds to better serve the high admission volumes. These beds are capable of serving medical surgical and telemetry patients ensuring adequate space.

The dedicated unit will allow for specialized, continuous monitoring of patients with acute conditions, improving early detection of complications and reducing the likelihood of readmission. By expanding capacity, Palomar Health is reducing emergency department wait times, improving patient flow throughout the hospital and strengthening community health by increasing access to medical care.
