Parallon expands healthcare information technology service capabilities

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Parallon, a leading provider of healthcare business and operational services, announced today that it is expanding the company's portfolio of health information technology (HIT) expertise with the alignment of Vision Consulting, LLC, a Nashville-based HIT service provider, and its Parallon Technology Solutions business unit. Tim Unger, the current president of Vision Consulting, will become CEO of Parallon Technology Solutions, with Dwayne Gunter remaining as the president of the business unit. Vision Consulting will be branded separately.

With the addition of Vision Consulting's expertise and experience, Parallon will offer a deeper service portfolio across the entire continuum of care - including administrative, financial, clinical and patient care systems.

"Tim shares a commitment to operational excellence, superior client service and a collaborative approach that will continue to drive technological advancements for providers working within today's complex healthcare environment," said Michael O'Boyle, president and CEO, Parallon. "His experience leading technology transformations across a range of providers, platforms and systems is integral to our success and will enable us to offer even greater expertise to further meet the needs of our clients."

Unger has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare information technology. Over the past two decades, he has founded and led several fast-growing, industry-recognized healthcare information technology companies, including UCR Solutions, an HIT consulting and solutions company that was acquired by First Consulting Group. Previously, Unger has held senior IT management positions at Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and its predecessors. Unger graduated with a bachelor's degree in management information systems from Elmira College in New York.

"Technology is such a critical component to build process and cost efficiencies across all areas of healthcare operations," said Tim Unger, CEO, Parallon Technology Solutions. "Vision Consulting and Parallon Technology Solutions offer highly complementary services, so I'm delighted this alignment allows us to provide a broader spectrum of expertise that will enhance client service."
