Patient 'edutainment' systems evolving to better serve patients and staff

Having tools to manage their experience can be empowering for patients


Because a hospital patient may sometimes feel powerless, providing entertainment, relaxation, education and tools to manage their experience can be empowering, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

Patient education and entertainment systems allow hospital staff to deliver health education to patients.

While much of this can be done through the in-room TV screen, today there are more mobile solutions, such as bedside tablets and the patients' own mobile devices.

Electronic whiteboards that use real-time locating system (RTLS) technology are another relatively new development in patient education and entertainment systems.
