Penn. Hospital Fire Sparks Shelter-in-Place Order For Area

Smoke from putting out a fire at UPMC Lock Haven could have been hazardous

A "shelter-in-place" order was given because of a hospital fire in Clinton County, Pa., according to an article on the WNEP website.

Clinton County Emergency Management advised people near UPMC Lock Haven Hospital to close their windows and stay inside because of smoke.

The fire was found in a tunnel below the hospital.

All 14 patients receiving care there were moved to other facilities or sent home, according to the hospital.

Although early fire protection planning is becoming more common, too often fire protection design is still something of an afterthought when compared to other building trades,  according to an article from Building Operating Management on the FacilitiesNet website.
