Phifer's Sheerweave Performance+ receives M1/B2 certification

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Phifer is pleased to announce that its full range of SheerWeave Performance+ metallized fabrics is now certified to the rigorous M1 European fire classification standard as well as the B2 German fire standard.

These test methods measure the ignitability of building products when exposed to a small flame. Flammability testing is arguably one of the most important testing procedures within the textile industry because it has crucial safety implications in the event of a fire.  It has statistically been shown that the major cause of fire fatalities can be directly attributed to the accidental ignition of upholstery and textiles.

Phifer’s Performance+ offers the maximum in SheerWeave benefits, combining the performance of a traditional SheerWeave fabric “plus” the highly reflective properties of metallization to achieve the ultimate in sun control protection. Acting as a shield at the window, Performance+ fabrics reflect solar heat from the building, reducing the amount of glare at the window and increasing the outward view through the shade while providing an increase in daytime privacy.

Performance+ is available in SheerWeave Style 2390, a 5 percent open basketweave fabric, Style 2410, a 3 percent open basketweave fabric and Style 2500, a 1 percent open basketweave fabric. All styles are available in 63- and 96-inch widths and in 10 neutral colors ideal for any commercial project.

As with other SheerWeave fabrics, the Performance+ range of fabrics is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, includes Microban® antimicrobial product protection and meets all of the specification requirements for the demanding commercial market.
