Piedmont Columbus Regional now offers guests a mobile wayfinding platform providing step-by-step directions to any destination within the hospital and related points of interest such as pharmacies, urgent care locations or doctors’ offices.
Developed in collaboration with Atlanta-based Gozio Health, the Piedmont Now mobile app provides indoor navigation at the Midtown and Northside campuses as well as the John B. Amos Cancer Center, quick access to appointment availability near you, online scheduling for doctor’s appointments, provider information and more.
“We are always striving to perfect the patient experience at our hospitals and across our health system,” said Scott Hill, chief executive officer (CEO) at Piedmont Columbus Regional. “With this new wayfinding functionality, guests can feel confident with the knowledge that they can arrive at their destination on time, unstressed and at the right location.”
Piedmont Healthcare’s mobile application extends patient engagement by placing the hospitals’ services, amenities and online scheduling in patients’ hands for immediate access.
“With a large percentage of people relying on smartphones for location-based information and directions, it’s important for hospitals to have a mobile strategy that includes wayfinding to improve the overall patient experience,” said Katie Logan, chief consumer officer at Piedmont Healthcare. “Piedmont Now provides exceptional navigational accuracy and features a number of different amenities, from – save your parking reminders to access to the MyChart patient portal and online appointment booking with Piedmont doctors. We want to provide one app that gives patients all of the information they need at their fingertips.”
Since launching at Atlanta-area Piedmont Healthcare facilities, more than 50 percent of Piedmont Now users have leveraged the navigation features within the app and several thousand patients have used the app to book an online appointment with their provider.
Many bookings – 33 percent according to Piedmont’s metrics – are scheduled outside of normal weekday office hours and on the weekends, when it is most convenient for patients. By downloading the Piedmont Now app on their mobile devices, patients can book appointments with Piedmont’s physicians and all Piedmont Urgent Care locations at any time.
“At Piedmont, one of our values is to embrace technology and by empowering patients to schedule appointments when it is convenient for them, we are helping to deliver on that promise,” Hill said. “We know that people prefer to make appointments online, and on their own time, and we’re happy to give them that opportunity.”
Piedmont Now is free to download through the App Store for iPhones and the Google Play Store for Androids. To download the Piedmont Now app today, text ‘COLUMBUS’ to 61653 (message and data rates may apply).
