By looking at how users interact with the built environment and considering the effects it can have on mood, productivity and general well-being, designers can create healthcare buildings that are truly beneficial for all inhabitants.

Advances in technology and monitoring equipment are improving post-occupancy evaluation (POE). Qualitative and quantitative POE methods allow us to focus on and build an accurate picture of how a space functions on a human level.

When designing to improve air quality, for instance, making the most of pre- and post-installation monitoring can clearly demonstrate the reduction of harmful compounds.
