Potter Announces City Of Chicago Class I Approval

Potter Electric Signal Company, LLC of St. Louis, Missouri USA, announces that its IPA-4000 Fire Alarm Control Panel has received approval for use in the City of Chicago. The fire alarm control panel has been accepted for Class I applications. All fire alarm panel installations will be subjected to a field inspection to verify compliance with the Municipal Code of Chicago.

The IPA-4000 is an analog/addressable fire alarm panel that can support up to 4,064 addressable SLC Devices. The system is expandable to provide a total of thirty-two Signaling Line Circuits (SLC) each supporting 127 devices. The control panel is compatible with a full line of sensors and modules that utilize the Potter Addressable Device (PAD) Protocol. Each detector and module consumes a single device address. Sounder bases, Relay bases and multi-function modules are programmed as Sub-Points. The panel also boasts a robust ten amp power supply with up to ten programmable outputs that support Potter’s patented Quadra-sync capability.

Jeff Hendrickson, V.P. of Product Management for the Fire/Security division of Potter said “The IPA-4000 control panel provides our Engineered Systems Distributors some unique advantages when installing Class I systems in the City of Chicago. The ability to configure the I/O circuits and change the EOL resistor value are great time savers, especially for retro-fit applications.”
