RGIS Partners with Cost Control Solutions to offer new remote inventory management system for the healthcare industry

By Healthcare Facilities Today

RGIS, LLC, the global market leader in inventory and data collection for the healthcare industry, today announced a significant new service offering for healthcare facilities. The Remote Inventory Management System (RIMS) is the healthcare industry’s only cloud-based system for managing pharmaceutical products and clinical supplies outside central supply locations.

RIMS is a unique and cost-effective system for the management of pharmaceutical products and clinical supplies within the entire healthcare delivery system. The software-based service gives healthcare facilities the ability to be proactive in the management of pharmaceutical products that have a fixed shelf life, helping eliminate inventory lost to expiration while reducing the labor required to manage product dating and the recovery of recalled products.

The system will be offered through a partnership with Cost Control Solutions, LLC (CCS), a company whose management has more than 50 years of experience in supply chain management and patient care. Robert Miller, Vice President of Sales for CCS, said that, “By offering the Remote Inventory Management System to the healthcare industry, RGIS will provide a system and service that pays for itself while enhancing patient safety at the same time.”

This agreement formalizes the strategic partnership between RGIS and CCS, according to Bill Carpou, RGIS Executive Vice President, who added, “As we expand our capabilities from an inventory services company to a full service solutions provider, RIMS will help lead that transition.”

CCS has provided RIMS to numerous healthcare systems for products contained within facility crash carts, transport kits, stroke kits, emergency vehicles, and at physician offices, with significant inventory savings and enhanced regulatory compliance and patient safety. The partnership with RGIS provides much broader reach for the RIMS service according to Lee Horton, Vice President of Operations for CCS: “I am very excited about our partnership with RGIS, a proven provider of inventory management services with trained healthcare personnel.” Mark Dunny, RGIS Vice President of Healthcare, added, “This innovation places a valuable tool in the hands of the experienced RGIS healthcare team with a renewed focus on customer solutions.”

RIMS enhances the services of RGIS, which currently include physical inventories, compliance audits, par level determination and additional supply chain services for the healthcare industry. The savings from the elimination of lost inventory value of non-creditable product outdates, coupled with the reduction in labor hours required to manage inventories in remote locations, will result in a significant return on investment for healthcare delivery networks.
