Unsupported medical devices are likely to become more vulnerable to cyberattacks, according to an article on the Health Exec website.
A report from medical device and internet of things (IoT) company Forescout suggests that as devices' capabilities grow, so do the risk.
More than half of the devices medical professional are using are traditional computing devices, but nearly 40 percent are IoT devices.
Plus, according to the report, 85 percent of medical devices running Windows OS had a protocol called Server Block Messaging turned on, “allowing uncontrolled access for attackers to get beyond the perimeter and move laterally.”
