Rush University Medical Center in Chicago is planning a $500 million outpatient center. Rush will also renovate and expand existing facilities, according to an article on the Health Finance News website.

The outpatient center is part of a effort to increase patients' access to care. 

The new outpatient building project follows the construction of the hospital tower in 2012. The butterfly-shaped tower, which includes 664 beds, has received recognition for its unique architecture.

While the outpatient building will be the centerpiece of the $500 million project, plans runs the gamut from high-rises to parking lots, student housing to research facilities, according to the article.
