S.C. hospital's new entrance facade part of $34M renovation

Georgetown Memorial Hospital has new exterior, patient rooms and cardiac catheterization lab

Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, S.C., has undergone $34 million in renovations to rebuild much of its exterior and replace necessary infrastructure, according to the Myrtle Beach Online website.

Gayle Resetar, chief operating officer, said construction is still mostly on schedule and on budget, according to the article. Though the work affects the hospital’s layout, the construction doesn’t affect service, he said.

“While constructing the new entrance, we've had to maintain a corridor, so there's kind of half a hallway under construction for a bit,” Resetar said in the article.

The entrance facade was recently completed along with a newly paved parking lot. Patients will be located centrally when construction finishes, which makes both outpatient and inpatient services more accessible.

“There's more outpatients than inpatients,” Resetar said. “We want to think of our facility as more of an outpatient service with hospital beds than a hospital with outpatient beds.”
