Schneider Electric StruxureWare Data Center Operation v7.4 offers increased colocation management capabilities

WEST KINGSTON, R.I. – Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, today introduced StruxureWare Data Center Operation v7.4, which provides new capabilities and access to actionable intelligence for an ideal balance of high availability and peak efficiency throughout the data center life cycle. As part of Schneider Electric’s data center infrastructure management (DCIM) solution, StruxureWare for Data Centers, StruxureWare Data Center Operation v7.4 will optimize colocation management, power monitoring and network management helping data center and facility managers free up power capacity, right-size physical infrastructure and integrate with existing DCIM systems, thereby reducing capital and operational expenses.

“We made it a point to fill in some unmet needs we were hearing from customers with other industry DCIM solutions, particularly when it comes to data and actionable intelligence,” says Soeren Brogaard Jensen, Vice President, Solution Software, Schneider Electric. “There is a great demand for accurate monitoring and measurement of colocation environments, as well as the need to reduce stranded capacity, right-size the data center and make the most of existing DCIM systems for all types of data centers.”

A key feature to optimize colocation management includes paired receptacles to provide an overview of complete power redundancy at the cage or rack level, allowing facility and data center managers to simulate the impact of a failure and accurately display the failover load for each receptacle. StruxureWare Data Center Operation v7.4 also features an improved cage and rack-based power overview with the ability to display sold, measured and estimated power for black box environments, as well as accurate tenant billing, enhanced tenant data, and improved cage drawings. All of these features can help colocation facilities accurately bill tenants, determine available leasing space and avoid overspending on capital and operational expenses.

To further bridge the gap between IT and facilities, StruxureWare Data Center Operation v7.4 enables data center managers to manage capacity and conduct impact analysis down to the breaker level, providing added understanding of the power chain and the ability to reduce stranded capacity – a feature unique to Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare solution. Additional features also include branch circuit monitoring and the ability to print breaker panel schedules.

New network management capabilities to StruxureWare Data Center Operation v7.4 includes graphical network connections, visual port mapping, cable route and type visualization and network impact analysis. These functions enable managers to accurately view the data center network infrastructure, plan capacity and anticipate potential network problems.

StruxureWare Data Center Operation v7.4 is part of Schneider Electric’s StruxureWare for Data Centers suite, a comprehensive DCIM solution that enables maximum efficiency throughout the data center life cycle, from design and build to operation, assessment and planning.
